I’m Ilana, grateful to be a mother of 4 and wife of an IDF soldier.
My husband is up North right now, fighting in Israel’s war against Hezbollah. I go to bed every night in an empty room, with no idea what my husband is doing, and just praying that he’s alive and well.
But now that he’s not coming home over Sukkot, I have a new problem on my hands. My kids are devastated that they won’t have Tishrei with their father. I have to make the Chag extra special for them, but I can’t afford the basics, never mind any treats!
Many reservist families are struggling financially after women like me stopped working to care for kids while their husbands are away. With the Chagim coming up, we have no idea how to pay for the enormous expenses of feeding their families.
When I heard that Shomrei Yisroel is campaigning to give grocery vouchers to struggling IDF families, I was so relieved and grateful. These grocery vouchers will pay for chicken, fish, and vegetables, that I could never afford otherwise.
There are only a few more days until Sukkot, and without more funds, they’ll have to turn down hundreds of requests. Please consider adopting an IDF family by sponsoring grocery vouchers!
We’ve sacrificed so much for the country, giving up family time and cutting back on expenses so our husbands can keep our country safe. It would mean the world to us if we knew that people appreciate our sacrifice. Please consider giving back to IDF families by giving them the gift of preparing for Chag with dignity.
Ilana
