He has been through five months of hell and desperately needs intensive medical treatment and psychiatric care to recover. UPDATE, DECEMBER 22ND: My brother just called me from prison. I barely recognized his voice. He told me he's been locked in solitary for over four months. No food. No heat. He was beaten for asking to call us. He can hear prisoners screaming "Free Palestine" outside his cell. He begged me to tell the Jewish nation not to forget him. My brother, Nechemia, is only nineteen. He should be living a normal life, learning, and building his future. Instead, he is sitting alone in a German prison, far from home, with no support, and facing frightening antisemitism every single day.
About 5 months ago, Nechemia was arrested when entering Germany from France and imprisoned, awaiting trial. Since then, his life has become a living nightmare. He has suffered physical violence from inmates, severe antisemitic treatment from guards, and shockingly, he has even been placed in solitary confinement with no food.
Right now, he is alone. There is no organization assisting him.
I’m afraid for Nechemia’s life - he has already been assaulted. He is frightened, cut off from communication, and has no basic rights. Without proper legal representation, there is a real danger that he will remain there for up to 10 years, leaving him a shadow of himself.
A skilled lawyer in Germany could advocate for him, defend him in court, and fight to protect him from continued abuse. But legal representation of this level costs a significant sum—and payment must be secured immediately. Every day without a lawyer puts him in greater danger.
