In 7 days, I'll be standing under the chuppah in Yerushalayim - my kittel over my shoulders, the sound of "Od Yishama" filling the air. It should be the happiest day of my life.
Instead, I wake up each morning with a knot in my stomach. Last week, I watched enforcement officers take inventory of our tiny apartment in Geula. They even listed my father's old tefillin bag - the same one he's carried to shul every day since before I was born.
My father, who taught me to always pay my debts, has fallen into financial trouble through no fault of his own. Half of the 600,000 shekel debt has been paid thanks to generous people in our community. But we're still struggling to clear the remaining amount and cover even the simplest wedding necessities.
My heart shatters into a million pieces thinking about letting my sweet kallah down. If you can help us during this difficult time, I make you this promise: On my wedding day, before I stand under the chuppah, I will go to the Kosel and kivrei tzaddikim with your tehillim name written on a note in my pocket, and I will daven with my whole heart for you and your entire family.
Thank you so much for your help. Hashem should watch over you.
Kol tuv,
Dovid Tubul
