‘I already lost so much, why do I have to lose my wedding also?’ Help these displaced engaged couples from the South!

Fund ID: 6178

‘Like every other Kalla, I was so looking forward to my wedding, even though it was going to be simple because we couldn’t afford much. But now that the war forced us to reschedule, I can’t bring myself to think about what our wedding will look like.

And it’s not just the wedding, we also have no proper apartment to go to that night. We’re hoping to get money during the wedding for breakfast the next day…

This is my special time, how can I get married like this?!’

 - Ila, Bride from the South of Israel, who was forced to flee and cancel her wedding

Together with her Chosson Efi, they’ve rescheduled it to be in a synagogue with just a Minyan present. When a neighbor heard he wondered – if they can’t afford a hall to host the wedding, what kind of apartment will they be going to?

He was shocked. A one-room apartment. Mattresses on the floor. No washing machine or oven. An empty fridge.

Efi and Ila are one of the many couples who’ve had to flee for their lives and replan their wedding from scratch in an unfamiliar place. They struggled to pull together funds the first time around. Now they’re desperate.

The Vaad Harabonim are determined to help these somewhat forgotten displaced couples.

These couples need:

  • A happy wedding – funds for a new wedding venue, catering, and music.
  • A homey apartment – linen, furniture, and a respectable apartment.
  • A wholesome meal – stocked pantries, and funds for weeknight dinners and Shabbos Seudos.

The war robbed these young men and women of too much. Why do they have to lose the precious chance to be blissful newlyweds too?

Without you, they won’t have a wedding to enjoy or even food for dinner the next day. Donate here to make sure their weddings don’t become yet another victim of this war!

Founded in 1992 under the leadership of Harav Hagaon Shlomo Zalmen Auerbach zt”l and Harav Hagaon Yosef Shalom Elyashiv zt”l, Vaad Harabanim L'Inyanei Tzedaka B'Eretz Hakodesh based on the following principles: Firstly, Klal Yisrael needs a reliable address for sending their tzedakah money. They should know that all their donations, down to the last cent, are managed faithfully and strictly according to Halachah. No less important is the second principle, that the needy must have somewhere to turn when a crisis strikes. Over three decades later, Vaad Harabanim continues to function with the guidance of the Gedolei Hador and in accordance with its founding principles.
